Tri-Stool

Made with Ash, Danish oil, fabric,
foam, polyfill, zipper

16” D x 16” W x 14” H

Fall 2023
The tri-stool is constructed using entirely hand-cut joinery with the parameters to create a seat from predetermined wood stock. This project marked my first exposure to woodworking and the use of hand tools.

This piece was on display at the Gelman Gallery at the RISD Museum for the Major Survey Show from December 1st, 2023 to January 28th, 2024.

Frame Cushion Insert

After living with this stool for over two years, I decided to create a custom cushion to make the triangular seat more comfortable and functional. I designed a triangular tenon cushion that slots into the central hole without additional points of connection. The cushion features a zipper opening; the tenon is filled with stiff upholstery foam, while the remainder is stuffed with fabric scraps and polyfill.
